Seattle Music at Its Best
Gumshen is a long-time Seattle-based ProgPop band that fuses pop, progressive rock and electronica in a fun and unique fashion. Over the years, two long-time members Ron Hippe (vox, keys, gtr) and Jan Ciganik (gtr) have worked and performed with various other artists who fill in on vox, drums and bass.
Jan grew up in Bratislava where it wasn't easy to find albums to listen to, but after studying music and finally making it to the U.S. (after a long and sometimes difficult journey), landed in the 80s and 90s Grunge scene in Seattle. He performed and recorded with Ventilator in the 90s, working with Velvet Underground guitar player John Cale and future Mother Lovebone and Guns N' Roses drummer Greg Gilmore.
Ron grew up in Seattle as an actor, singer and voice artist, appearing in TV shows and stage productions from Seattle theaters to Broadway. From 2009-2012, he played keyboards with Chris Ballew/Caspar Babypants, and has raised millions of dollars around the U.S. as a charity gala auctioneer. His voice is credited across a wide spectrum of video games, commercials, corporate videos and books on tape.
Ron and Jan met around 2006 and have been making music ever since. Their 10th album "Holding On" is releasing over late 2024/early 2025. The multiple genres and bands from which they've drawn inspiration over the years fuel their intriguing and addictive new sound.
